The Bliss of Sharing in Story

Monday, December 19th, 2005

Today was spent blissfully cloaked in Story
She spoke and we listened
She spoke through us and we told,
And shared, and shaped, and developed, and learned…
Ever so much
- may you all enjoy such spaces of delight, joy, hope and despair…and nourishment.
May you all be blessed with the gift of a wonderful teacher. A teacher who speaks the [...]

Song Of A Dream

Monday, December 19th, 2005

Once in the dream of a night I stoodLone in the light of a magical wood,Soul-deep in visions that poppy-like sprang; And spirits of Truth were the birds that sang,And spirits of Love were the stars that glowed,And spirits of Peace were the streams that flowedIn that magical wood in the land of sleep.
Lone in the [...]

Stories Fall from The Tree of Life

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

In preperation for a storytelling workshop tomorrow I found this:
The Tree of Knowledge is theories and the Tree of Life is stories.Everything we understand comes from our consciousness.
Where do stories originate? Imagination.
The truth is, the story comes from beyond my consciousness, but it flows into my consciousness. The story itself is really beyond.
Reb Nachman says [...]

Re-name It #1: bye bye “Problem” and “Issue” hello Positive Change

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

The Bite:
You can change your life by renaming it! (And I can help if you like)
And to begin the process I have created a new catagory for it.
The first renaming exercise: everytime you here Problem or Issue rename it "challenge" and "contradiction".
Huh? Keep reading. And even if you don’t keep reading, please do try it and [...]

Wikipedia Inquiry Opens: Please Join in

Friday, December 16th, 2005

I have been resisting my blog post on wikipedia "the free encyclopedia" for some time, and I am going to keep resisting it: except to say the whole concept exites and scares me: - the former being I love the free access to knowledge and information and I love reference tools and research without having to [...]

What is Poetry? [It is What it Is]

Friday, December 16th, 2005

I chanced upon this quote:
"Die Rose ist ohne warum; Sie blühet, weil Sie blühet…"
"The Rose is without an explanation;
She blooms, because She blooms…"
This was held by Argentinean writer Jorge Luis Borges to be the definition of poetry.*

Makes me think of the ever present quote in my life: "it is what it is…"
Meanwhile [...]

Dali

Thanks to a friend of my flatmate’s, Andy Maskin, I remembered how much I loved Dali

Lesson: Just Right: neither fast nor slow…

Friday, December 16th, 2005

My grandfather often quoted me a Russian proverb: ‘the slower you go, the further you get’. But he also taught of the importance of making the most of the time you had.
After this mornings story (in the post below) this story came into my inbox curtosy of the fabulous Doug Lipman. I needed to hear it - did you?
Seems tea cups and the [...]

What is Your Filter Sensitive To? And How Full is Your Cup?

Friday, December 16th, 2005

The Short:
Seventeenth-century Catholic poet Angelus Silesius put it this way:
[God], whose love and joy
are present everywhere,
Can’t come and visit you
unless you aren’t there.

Sometimes you Just Want a Human Voice

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

My friend popped this in an email to me this morning:
"For a list of all the ways technology has failed to improve the quality of life, please press three."
It made me smile. I do love technology but I am weary of it as a magic bullet. There is nothing, at least not yet, that beats [...]
