Time to be frightened by a ‘hat’ - A Revist
"

"Does this frighten you?" asked Antoine de Saint-Exupery in The Little Prince in 1945.
"Does this frighten you?" I ask in 2005.
Certainly it frightens me.
But it frightens me more if it doesn’t frighten you!
Because the image is not of a ‘hat’.
It is a boa constrictor digesting an elephant.
[Hint: If you keep seeing a hat, Please click here and then look the first one pasted above...Did something change?]
It is a call to (re-)discover our imagination!
Is imagination important?
Seen through the lens of imagination:
-
problems become opportunities for growth, learning and development
-
limitations become possibilities
-
small ideas make big impacts
-
dreams become realities
-
…this ‘hat’ becomes a boa constrictor digesting an elephant.
Too many of us are looking at the world as if it is ‘hat’.
It is time to imagine ‘what could be’ - not what is. Frightened yet?"
Some background/blurb
A little over a year ago I wrote this on Vermillion’s blog, [see archive] today I added two lines - the hint section
…sometimes I find it important to revisit my thoughts and blogs, with their inbuilt information management system and dated entries, can be good for that!
I am still ‘frighted’ of the hat, and still frightened that many are not frightened of the hat…but I have moved a little by way of wondering - how can I come from where those who are not frightened by the hat are, and enable them to ’see’ the hat another way?
…How can I wear that lens without losing mine, so that I may understand and be a better enabler of imagination and creativity?…a better catalyst and unleasher…? I am beginning to wonder - what questions can I ask / information can I give that makes the difference?…
My question: ‘why are they not talking?’ has also become ‘why are we not talking?’…
