Life is…

"Life is a metaphor for Life"

Thus said my dear friend and colleague Marge today.

And she was right. Brilliant and beautiful thought really! Makes me think of fractals and mirrors.

The context of the converstion was actually in relation to the role of context (environment/space) and their impact on us, and our abilities to be in dialogue…yet the quote is applicable to, well, life really!

Too often I (we?) experience emotions e.g. get frustrated or excited or any number of things going on around us, and we hold them as external to our world.

Yet the world that exisits around us is as much an expression/manifestation of our own inner world as an external one. My clay teacher Helene says a similar thing - clay never lies. Whatever you need to learn from the clay in a given lesson is a lesson you could be learning on in your day-day life. I am not trying to get into a metaphysical discussion here (does the world exist outside our perception of it), or suggest that I (you) are the centre of the universe.

My intention in writing this down is to capture the idea that our experience of the world is impacted by our internal contexts and there are lessons to be learned, and choices to make. I do believe we reflect the world we are in and our world reflects us, thus we have choice to change things. It also means that we are in a two-way communication loop with the world and the emotions we experience in response to external elements, patterns that we see, the things that we choose to focus on in the world…these are expressing elements within us, too!

Lessons are all around us. And possibilities for new patterns are just a millimetre / new interpretation / new choice away. This is true in own internal worlds, and the world around us.
