Walk the Marathon
How does one complete a marathon? How do you slow down and still get there?
You know how there are things that you ‘know’ and yet haven’t embodied yet? Like the world not being black and white…and such.
Well one such thing in addition to the black-white-no-it’s-grey-it’s-all-ebb-flow lesson, another major thing for me right now is time. Time and I have an interesting relationship…and yet I am slowly learning to be at one with him, even though there are some serious changes in what time means these days (given technology and so forth and our ability to fly and chat across the air and sees).
Yesterday a very lovely and wise woman, Victoria, shared "it is a marathon, not a sprint". And I think that was especially valuable
My grandparent’s often quoted me a russian proverb:
"Walk, don’t run. The slower you walk, the further you’ll go"
And another colleague, Patreece, also fantastic, noted that if everything was relative, if I went REALLY REALLY slowly everything would be happening even faster around me.
Now since I am not saying anything new to myself I presume I am not saying anything new to you….afterall, we all know the Tortoise beats the Hare.
SO let’s move to the HOW?
On the embodying this (the hard part): the little actions I am taking when I catch myself out - slow down my walking - be ok with being 1minute later, and enjoy the surrounding; speak slower (hard for me); sometimes even, as right this moment, catch myself speed typing and slow the typing tap…
Looking forward to hearing what you do to slow down…and either way, hope this helps you as well on your own way - after all, each of us has our own marathon, the only person we are racing is ourselves. So whichever way you do it, you are always going to ‘win’.
PS As most people know, I don’t run - so actually if you do ‘run’ marathon’s would really appreciate your secrets

Had a sudden weird and wacky thought - you know how we all speak on telephones and computers and so forth - sending our messages into the air with no thought for how they get there or how amazing it is?!? well what if these tools are simply a way to make tangible what we have always been able to do / known was possible for us to do - ESP/talk to each other’s heads…afterall everytime I put my microphone headset on my ears and speak over skype to someone else with a headset…or via the telephone, that is precisely what I am doing: adding my voice to their head…how cool!
