An exercise that goes with this that I finally did thanks to stopping by Deena Metzgar's website:

"Imagine that you are at the end of your life. Without hesitating, without thinking, record the story you have lived in five sentences."

http://www.deenametzger.com/books/writinglife.html
It echos some of my stuff including this: http://natalieshell.com/2006/03/23/life-doesnt-go-in-straight-lines/
and this:
http://natalieshell.com/2006/09/26/beyond-the-problem-start-with-future-vision/

though I won't pretend to be anywhere near where Deena has walked and reached!! She is amazing!! And I look forward to meeting her one day!

I did her version of the 'write your own eulogy' exercise (above) without thinking - so often I have objected to it but something about the way hers is written spoke to me...And though my5 sentences will need constant evolving am beginning to see it may well be that 'simple'^ as writing it down and be conscious of it while also letting it unfold - because the how is not up to me...A dear friend Paul V tried to teach me this - "as simple as writing down what is important to you and sticking to it" - at least 6 years ago so again I am a slow learner but start where you are at, right?

(*the simple of the right side of complexity...simple that is elegant complex, not complicated)
