Some of “The Family Forest” Audio/Video Is Online…Feedback Please
It’s about time, but slowly, over the next months, I hope to fill the new “Family Forest” section of my natalieshell.com with some of the pieces I have made or am making…
Nothing is ‘perfect’ but it is important for me to begin to share them so I can begin to put this project ‘out there’…
So I invite you to listen, and I would love your feedback!
Simply go here to The Family Forest section and read/ watch/ listen to the first three sections that I have added:
1 Introduction: An oral introduction (the audio will be added soon, for now you can read it ;)
2 Zaida’s Request: A digital story on how/why I started this aspect of my story journey.
3 Where do you hide a needle?: A multimedia story, on my grandmother Chana, “Nanny Mutti” and her sister, Rushka.
From the forest,
Natalie

No matter how many times I have seen/heard/read these pieces, they always bring a tear to my eyes…
You truly have the gift
Love you

on the story on your grandmother #3:
It was most moving, and I really love how what’s not in the photo is more important than what is in the photo, and the way that the image references the unseen is the same way that your grandmother and great aunt’s presence references what is not said very powerful.
you have really thought about how to reveal that story, and I think that it’s done beautifully.

the way you tell the story of your grandmother reminds me of a feeling that struck me during my pregnancy: your grandmother bore the feminine half of YOU in her belly while pregnant of your mother (since the female fetus already fully develops his ovaries). Women pregnant with girls carry two generations in their womb. This his how you can circle back to your grandmother in such a wonderful way.

Astrid
P/S: the next time your family tree brings you to Köln, never miss to step by me :-)!!
