The world is speeding up. Or this year has. And there is a TON of stuff going on. I feel that given I am not 85, where it could make sense to be June already, I am able to make this statement. I’m wondering whether the antidote is to slow down. Be extra slow? Musings aside, I’m happy that thankfully, this crazy time hasn’t stopped people from creating and sharing wonderful things to help us visualize and capture and connect with all the stuff that’s going on. So here is a round up of just some of what I’ve caught in the past few weeks:
Chris Jordan’s new work, Running the Numbers II
Chris Jordan again challenges us “to confront the realty of our times”, with the hope that, “despite the complex mixtures of anger, fear, grief, and rage that this process can entail. Perhaps these uncomfortable feelings can become part of what connects us, serving as fuel for courageous individual and collective action as citizens of a new kind of global community.”

“Every day we read of mass phenomena characterized by numbers in the millions, billions, even trillions.” “We are stuck with trying to comprehend the gravity of these phenomena through the anaesthetizing and emotionally barren language of statistics. - thanks Kenn for the link

Two maps I think work really well together (though I found them separately):
1. Web Trend Map 4 (2009) and 2. Dot.Com or Dot Gone - web 2.0 companies that got bought or vanished

And finally, my new boyfriend (not really, but I love his work!), Peter Kirn’s Urbanism Study

Hope you’ve enjoyed a slip into a different time & visual zone. Wishing you a delightful day.
