About

This story is one part of what I am making on my grandparents for “The Family Forest”. It is designed for the photo to be held in you hand and looked at the whole time you listen to the (audio) story I have created. As we are in the online world here, I’ve tried to recreate the effect (thus the instructions ;).

I look forward to your feedback – simply add a comment below or email me!

Background (only read if you’ve listened please)

Although it is around 400 words, this story took a longtime to make.

There are still many unsanswered question but working with this story in particular gave me a distinct sense of peace…also with my grandmother, Chana , who passed away in 2004. Rushka, (Rachelle), her sister, my Great-Aunt and the woman on the right of the photo is still alive. And still will not speak. Though we did have a very enjoyable lunch last year with my parents and brother in Koln, Germany, where she told a number of post-world war stories…I have them documented elsewhere.

Note: This is one version of the story…it is not ‘final’ but I like that it is told raw, without a script (well, I know it almost by heart) …there are some suggestions to add sounds like footsteps and professionally record it. And I take all your feedback seriously, so please let me know what you think.
